This cultural tour of Rio de Janeiro shows the city cariocas actually live in: the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, with its mansions, artists' studios and yellow tram; the Selarón Steps, the work of Chilean artist Jorge Selarón, tiled with pieces from more than 60 countries; and the Lapa Arches, the old aqueduct that became the symbol of Rio's nightlife.
The community visit is led by a resident guide, on foot, with respect and real conversation. You learn how life in a favela works, meet local social projects, and part of the tour price stays in the community itself. No jeep "safari".
