Zé Pilintra in Lapa — History, Faith & Bohemian Culture

# At the Crossroads of History, Faith and Bohemian Culture — Zé Pilintra in Lapa

Lapa has never been just about partying. It is a place of history, resistance, faith and ancestral heritage!

Discover one of Rio de Janeiro's most iconic neighborhoods from a different perspective!

The Zé Pilintra in Lapa Tour is an Afro-Brazilian cultural experience that connects history, spirituality, music, bohemian traditions and popular culture, all of which have helped shape Rio de Janeiro's identity.

Far beyond its bars and nightlife, Lapa is a place of cultural encounters, transformations and resistance. Its streets preserve the stories of influential local figures, artists, workers and communities that have profoundly shaped the city.

## Who is Zé Pilintra?

Known for his elegance, traditional white suit, hat and symbolic connection to Rio's *malandro* tradition, Zé Pilintra is an important figure in Brazilian popular spirituality, particularly within Umbanda and Jurema Sagrada traditions.

His symbolic presence invites us to reflect on spirituality, protection, identity, cultural resistance and the relationship between the sacred and everyday life.

## What will you experience?

During approximately 3 hours, we will enjoy a cultural walking tour through Lapa, featuring three stops that combine historical storytelling, religious heritage and moments of social interaction.

Our meeting point will be the Zé Pilintra Sanctuary in Lapa, where we will begin exploring his cultural and spiritual significance.

Throughout the experience, we will discover stories of Rio's bohemian heritage, Afro-Brazilian culture and the popular traditions that transformed Lapa into one of Rio de Janeiro's most symbolic neighborhoods.

## A cultural experience worth raising a glass to

In addition to exploring Lapa's history and cultural heritage, this experience offers opportunities to relax, connect with others and celebrate the neighborhood's bohemian traditions.

The experience includes:

- 3 draft beers (chopes), served throughout the tour.
- 1 personalized souvenir cup, yours to keep as a memory of the experience.
- A professional tour guide specializing in Afro-Brazilian culture.

For participants who do not drink alcohol, the draft beers can be replaced with soft drinks or juice, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming experience.

More than just a walking tour, this experience invites you to reflect, connect with others and celebrate Brazil's cultural diversity.

## Tourism rooted in ancestry and social responsibility

Part of the proceeds will be donated to a social initiative, reinforcing our commitment to responsible cultural tourism and meaningful connections with the local community.

The experience is led by a professional tour guide specializing in Afro-Brazilian culture, offering a historically informed, respectful and accessible approach for visitors of all beliefs and backgrounds.
